Serie A side Torino are set to sign defender Ola Aina on a permanent deal in the January transfer window with the Maroons now reportedly in advanced level of negotiations with the player’s parent club Chelsea.
The Nigerian defender joined Torino on a season-long loan last summer and has impressed in his 17 appearances so far.
According to TuttoSport, Torino’s Sporting Director Gianluca Petrachi is looking to trigger a clause in Aina’s loan deal that allows them to sign the Nigerian for €10 million.
The proposed move by Torino for Aina is said to be in a bid to test how much Chelsea want to keep one of their best academy graduates, who just signed a new contract at the Blues in August 2018 to keep him at the club until 2021.
Meanwhile, the Super Eagles defender is ‘loving’ life at the Turin side already and would most likely prefer a permanent move in the summer:
“It has been very good so far and I’m loving it,” Aina said.
“It is really helping me. The football here is very tactical. You have to concentrate a lot. They spend a lot of time on set-pieces and getting the right movement.”
