Akwa United Football Club have officially unveiled 12 new players ahead of the new Nigeria Professional Football League season.
The unveiling ceremony which took place at the Nest of Champions in Uyo saw the new players showcased to fans and supporters of the club on Friday morning.
The names of the players and their respective former sides are:
Mfon Udoh (Enyimba Int’l FC); Juwon Oshaniwa (Scottish side Hearts); Alberico Barbosa Da Silva, Wilson Elu (FC Ifeanyi Ubah); Markson Ojobo, Emeka Atuloma, (Rivers United) and Ndifreke Effiong (Abia Warriors).
Others are Jean Efala (Coton Sport F.C.); Blaise Adou (AFAD Djékanou); Ocheme Edoh (El-Kanemi Warriors); Wisdom Fernando and Samuel Akpan (Akwa Starlets).
Meanwhile, two new assistant coaches were also unveiled to the public; Brazilian coach and Match Reader Isreal Jose Lira and Former Coach of Cofine FC Daniel Japhet.
Speaking at the gathering, Chairman of Akwa United Elder Paul Bassey expressed satisfaction at the quality of new signings and stressed that the players were contracted on merit.
“Today, we see the return of Akwa Ibom indigenes, not because they are from the state, but because they are some of the good players this country can offer.
“In order to start well, we have decided to add those we consider to be some very good players that will help us realise our dream.
The Promise Keepers have also renewed the contract of 23 players, registering a total of 35 players for the 2019 NPFL season.
