Mohamed Salah made an astonishing gesture after Liverpool’s 4-0 victory over Bournemouth on Saturday as he snubbed receiving the Man of the Match award and handed it to teammate James Milner instead.
The forward bagged a hat-trick as the Reds extended their unbeaten start to the Premier League and leapfrogged Manchester City to go top of the table.
Unsurprisingly, he was named man of the match by Sky Sports after the game but the Egyptian insisted that he would not accept it, instead presenting Milner – who made his 500th Premier League appearance in the game – as a more appropriate recipient
“I’m not taking it,” he said when told he was man of the match. It’s his (Milner’s) 500th game.
“He deserves it today, he’s had an amazing career. I hope I have more games like this in my career but I will not take it.”
