CAF Awards: Iwobi, Musa & Ighalo in contention for African Player of the year

Super Eagles stars Alex Iwobi, Ahmed Musa and Odion Ighalo have been listed alongside 31 others as nominees for the 2018 CAF African Player of the year award.

The list of nominees for the various categories of the 2018 CAF Awards was released by the Africa Football governing body on Friday morning on their official website.

Leicester City midfield dynamo, Wilfried Ndidi was listed alongside AC Milan’s Frank Kessie, Ajax’s Andre Onana and three others for the Young Player of the year award.

Interestingly, Nigeria coach Gernot Rohr is in the running for the Coach of the year award.

In the women’s category, Super Falcons stars Asisat Oshoala, Francisca Ordega, Onome Ebi and Desire Oparanozie will contend with 11 others for the African Player of the year.

The Super Falcons team was also notably listed among nominees for the Women’s national team of the year.

Falcons coach Thomas Dennerby is among contenders for the Women’s coach of year.

The Award Gala will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 in Dakar Senegal.
