Cristiano Ronaldo insists that Manchester United “did nothing to win the game” after the Red Devils fired in two late goals to snatch a 2-1 win against Juventus in the Champions League on Wednesday.
The Portuguese star scored the opener for the hosts with an outrageous volley on 65 minutes, but Juan Mata’s brilliant free-kick in the 86th minute earned United an equaliser before Alex Sandro turned the ball into his own net three minutes later for the visitors’ winner.
“Manchester United did nothing to win the game. You can’t even talk about luck, because you have to find your own luck and in this case we just gifted it to them,” Ronaldo, who was clearly unhappy with the result, told Sky Sports Italia.
“We dominated the game for 90 minutes, had so many chances, could’ve killed it off three or four times, but we relaxed and were punished.
“Now we’ve got to lift our heads, as we played really well and are still top of the group.”
Juventus top Group H with nine points while United are second with seven points after four round of matches.
