As per a scoop from Mirror Sport, Zinedine Zidane left Real Madrid because of broken promises over Wales forward Gareth Bale.
The French coach made a shocking decision to quit the Los Blancos last summer after an outrightly blissful spell at the side – winning three Champions League trophies in as many years.
Reports from Spanish paper El Pais suggest that the amazing overhead goal by Bale in last season’s Champions League final clash against Liverpool sparked disagreement between the club supremo Florentino Perez and Zidane.
Perez was said to have changed his decision – which was earlier in agreement with Zidane – to sell the Welshman after his incredible strike in the final.
Perez rather suggested that “Bale is better than Ronaldo”, trying to cajole Zidane to see things his way.
Zidane however was firmly not in support of Perez’s suggestion as he insisted on the duo’s agreement to sell Bale in order to fund a bid for either Mohamed Salah, Eden Hazard or Harry Kane in the summer.
The Frenchman was not happy with Perez’s decision to turn down his transfer request, and that, reports suggest made way for his exit from the Bernabeu.
