Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President Amaju Pinnick has stated that Salisu Yusuf will take back his position in the Super Eagles coaching crew after serving his suspension.
Yusuf was served a one-year ban by the federation in September after the revelation of a footage which caught the coach taking bribe from an undercover journalist who posed as a player agent.
Pinnick however suggests that the punishment meted out to Yusuf will stop just at the ban as the NFF are ready to allow him continue in the capacity of the Eagles assistant coach.
In an interview he granted on BBC Africa, Pinnick’s response to a question on whether or not the NFF will take back Yusuf was:
”Yes, definitely, he has a contract with us for five years I think, I will check with my legal people.
‘Punishment is not meant to chase you away, it is just to reprimand you and bring you back a better person.”
Salisu Yusuf was coach of the Home-based Eagles that were runners up at the 2018 African Nations Championship in Morocco.
