Ademola Lookman is set to be handed his first Premier League start of the season at Everton in Saturday’s clash with West Ham United.
With Brazilian star Richarlison still suspended and Theo Walcott set to sit out of game due to lack of match fitness, 20-year-old Lookman is tipped to get his chance to impress coach Marco Silva in the weekend clash.
The London-born forward, who was recently linked with switching allegiance to the Super Eagles of Nigeria, has found it difficult to hit the ground running at Everton after a proposed summer move to German side RB Leipzig fell through.
He logged 33 minutes as he came on as a substitute in the second half of the Toffees’ match against Huddersfield earlier in September – making his first appearance of the season.
On Friday, Coach Silva implored the winger to put aside the disappointment of not moving to Leipzig in the summer and show more commitment at the club.
”I felt a big reception from his fans to him (in the previous home game),” Silva told reporters at Friday’s pre-match presser.
”I expect a big commitment from all our players every day they pass the gate to come in and train.
”He is happy. The market is not just for him. He has a big club impressed with him but it’s done, the market is done and now he needs to keep focused in his job and give 100% every day.”
Should Lookman get the nod to support the attack in Everton’s clash with the Hammers, he will only be making his fourth ever start at the club since his signing from Charlton Athletic in 2016.
