Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote has again reiterated his desire to take control at Premier League club Arsenal FC, following a report that Alisher Usmanov is exploring a sale of his 30 percent stake.
The Nigerian businessman says he has his heart set on becoming the club’s new owner, even if it takes him two more years and someone else gets there first.
The 61-year-old told Reuters: “We will go after Arsenal from 2020… even if somebody buys, we will still go after it.”
When talking about the majority shareholders in August, as quoted by Yahoo, Dangote said: “If they get the right offer, I’m sure they would walk away.
“Someone will give them an offer that will make them seriously consider walking away.
“And when we finish the refinery, I think we will be in a position to do that.”
