Okagbare to lead Amusan, 10 other athletes to 2017 IAAF Championship

2008 Olympic silver medalist Blessing Okagbare-Ighoteguonor, All Africa Game medalist Tobiloba Amusan alongside 10 other athletes across the federation have been selected to represent Nigeria at the IAAF World Championships scheduled to hold from the August 4 to 13.

Okagbare will be gunning for another brilliant performance as she would be making her fourth competitive appearance at the IAAF World Championships. The sprinter will compete in the 100m and long jump events in London.

Meanwhile, Tobilola Amusan, who holds the NCAA women’s 100m hurdles title, will be making her debut in the IAAF World Championships.

Other notable names in the 12-athlete list are Commonwealth Games long jump champion Ese Brume; shot putter Chukwuebuka Enekwachi; 400m runners Yinka Ajayi, Margaret Bamgbose and Samson Nathaniel and 800m runner Edose Ibadin will all be making their debut at the London 2017 World Championships.

USA-based Enekwachi will be competing in the shot put event following his impressive 21.07m throw in Cork, Republic of Ireland two weeks ago.
