Minister of Youth and Sports Development Barrister Solomon Dalung has assertively assured that Nigeria has the necessary facilities to host the 2018 Africa World Wrestling Championship.
The Minister made this assurance to the President of the United World Wrestling Africa – Fouad Meskout (UWW AFRICA) who was accompanied by the President of the Nigeria Wrestling Federation Daniel Igali as they paid him a visit in regards to Nigeria’s bid to host the tournament, and for inspections of facilities and hotels in country.

However, the UWW Africa’s President had earlier told the Minister that the facilities and hotels he inspected in Port Harcourt were satisfactory while he found the people enthusiastic and hospitable. “Governor Nyesom Wike has been awesome. He made things look so easy when he confirmed his interest to host the championship and if we have more persons like him, Wresting in Nigeria will grow to admirable heights.
“I have told the President of African Wrestling Federation that after we host next year’s edition, in 2019 the country will be asked to host again because it will be the best in the history of the competition.”
