Nigeria’s D’Tigress have qualified for the quarter-finals of the ongoing 2017 FIBA Africa Women’s Championship holding in Bamako, Mali after the Nigerian side defeated their Egyptian counterparts 106-72 points on Sunday.
The two-time African champions began the game with an impressive 20-15 points in the first quarter and were completely dominant in the second quarter making 30 baskets in contrast with the Egyptians’ 14. The first half of the contest ended 50-29.
The Nigerians led the third quarter 29-20 points and the last quarter finished 27-23 points in favour of the D’Tigress.
D’Tigress’ Evelyn Akhotor contributed 24 points and 13 rebounds while Adaora Elonu added eight assists in the victory.
Meanwhile, Nigeria will face Guinea in their next game of the FIBA AfroBasket for Women preliminary round on Tuesday.
