The senior national team of Nigeria will be in action in a 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier game against Zambia on Saturday, October 7 and this has caused the Aiteo Cup semi-final second leg game between Akwa United and Sunshine Stars to be postponed.

The home ground of the Promise Keepers, Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo, is the same ground to host the World Cup qualifier on Saturday and Gernot Rohr’s men will be using the facilities for training before the clash, which Nigerians hope will confirm the Super Eagles qualification for Russia 2018 as Nigeria need just a win to clinch the ticket.

The game initially slated for Wednesday, October 4 has been shifted to Sunday, October 8.

Akwa Utd, winners of the cup competition in 2015, enter the second leg with a disadvantage having lost the first leg by a lone goal in Ijebu Ode.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has confirmed that Agege Stadium, Lagos will host the final of this years’ edition on October 15.
