Lobi Stars have earned qualification for the round of 32 games of the 2017 AITEO Cup after they defeated Kastina United 2-0 in a rescheduled game at the Aper Aku Stadium in Makurdi on Tuesday.
Anthony Okputu, who scored a hat-trick for Lobi in the Nigeria Professional Football League on Sunday gave the hosts the lead before home-based Super Eagles star Kingsley Eduwo doubled the lead to book a place for Lobi in the next round of games.
Eduwo was on target for the home-based Eagles in their 2-0 win over the Squirrels of Benin Republic in the return leg of the CHAN qualifiers.
Okputu is second on the NPFL goalscorers chart behind MFM’s Stephen Odey having netted 17 goals.
Lobi will face Ngwa FC in the round of 32 of the AITEO Cup.
