Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) side Abia Warriors have announced the signing of former FC Ifeanyi Ubah Brazilian coach Rafael Everton as their new head coach.
Everton, who led FCIU to their first major trophy win – the 2016 Federation Cup – will now replace Abdullahi Biffo, who was not offered a contract renewal after his deal elapsed at the end of last season.
Biffo is now to take up a role as assistant manager of the Nigeria Under-20 team, Flying Eagles, as appointed by the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF).
Club spokesman Igwe Onuoha revealed to Naija Football Plus that Everton will arrive Anambia next week, for his official unveiling and resumption of duty.
“We have reached an agreement with Everton and he will be our new manager.
“He will come down to Nigeria next week and the unveiling ceremony will come up soon.
“The details of his contract will be revealed next week, we have a new manager that will take over from Biffo,” the media official said.
The Umuahia boys finished the NPFL 2016/2017 season in the 12th position with 53 points from 38 games.
