Following their impressive performance at the just concluded first round of the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers, D’Tigers captain Ike Diogu has calls out to Nigerians to lend their support to the team as they bid to secure the ticket to the global competition.
The 2015 African Champions won all of their three games played in Nigeria finishing top in Group B with an unbeaten record.
Ahead of their impending qualifying campaign showdown, the Sichuan Blue Whales ace urged fans to support the team with the same level of passion they do for the men’s national football team, Super Eagles.
“Well, for us, we just need everybody’s support. For me personally, I’d like to see the country support us just like they support the Super Eagles. Because we have a chance to do really special things, not only in this next window but in the world championship itself,” he stated.
“If there’s one thing I would urge, I would like more of the country to support us because we are doing our best to make you guys proud. And I think you guys will be very pleased with what you see when we do qualify for the world championship.”
The second round of qualifiers is billed for September which the D’Tigers will play home and away games against Senegal, Cote d’Ivoire, Central Africa Republic, Rwanda, and Mali.
