Nigeria’s men national basketball team, D’Tigers recorded another massive victory over Rwanda 111-70 in the first round fixture of the FIBA World Cup African Qualifiers at the National Stadium, Surulere.
Oral Roberts ace Obi Emegano and Louisville’s Jordan Nwora were the stars on the Saturday as the 2015 African Champions eased to a remarkable victory over their East African opponents.
The Nigerian side started the game on a good note, edging Rwanda 28-24 in the first quarter.
The team then followed up with a dominant display to win the second quarter 24-9 and increase their lead to 52-33 before the the half time break.
The D’Tigers went on to increase the margin in the third quarter with a 30-9 win before sealing the victory with a 29-28 win in the last quarter.
Emegano recorded a game-high 24 points, Nwora got the team 17 points and made an impressive 9 rebounds. Ben Uzoh and Bryant Mbamalu were also very instrumental to the West African victory as they netted 14 points and bagged three assists each.
The D’Tigers will take on West African rivals Mali in their last first round fixture on Sunday by 8:30PM at the National Stadium.
