Portuguese Primeira Liga giant FC Porto have agreed a deal to add Nigerian midfielder Kelechi Nwakali on loan for the 2018/19 season.
The Nigeria youth international has reportedly departed for Portugal on Friday, June 29 to prepare for pre-season games with Porto.
Reports from ALLNigeriaSoccer quotes that his brother, Allwell Nwakali, confirmed his one-year loan move after Arsenal failed to accept an option to buy clause.
”Kelechi is on his way to Portugal now, he left Nigeria last night. Everything is in order, he will play on loan for Porto for the 2018/19 season,” Allwell Nwakali said.
”By the grace of God, this time, we expect him to get his work permit after the end of the season and a call-up to the Nigeria national team.
”I believe he will do well at Porto, they wanted to include an option to buy but Arsenal refused to accept the offer.”
The 20-year-old is contracted to Arsenal until June 30, 2021. He was out on loan to Dutch clubs MVV Maastricht and VVV Venlo in the past.
