Ahead of the decisive World Cup Group D showdown on Tuesday, Super Eagles forward Odion Ighalo says Nigeria’s final group game against Argentina will be the ‘final of finals’.
The Changchun Yatai’s captain is confident the Eagles will progress into the Round of 16 in spite of the big threat the South American giants might pose.
“It’s going to be war (and) a final of finals because they need to win,” Ighalo told BBC Sport.
“They are going to come all out and (use) every tactic that they know to win a game.”
With three African counterparts Egypt, Morocco and Tunisia already out of the ongoing FIFA World Cup having a game to go, Ighalo sees the demand for Nigeria to make Africa proud.
“That is why we have to do better and step up our game, because two Africans are already out and a loss (against Iceland) would have pushed us out of the tournament,” the 29-year-old forward said.
“We know Africans are back there supporting us and Senegal.”
The Eagles will slug it out against Argentina in their group showdown on Tuesday, June 26.
The encounter will be the fifth World Cup meeting between both sides, with the Eagles yet to secure a point.
