Following their 2-0 victory over Iceland on Friday, Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr says he is pleased with the team’s second-half display, adding that the team had to double up and create chances after a unimpressive opening half.
The 64-year-old gaffer further appreciated the Iceland team for their fairness and the good football they played even when they were down.
“It was a very good win for us; they were better in the first half but did not score and that helped us better going into the second half of the match.
“In the second half, it was a different team because we realized that at halftime we needed to get quicker without movement and turn our possession into scoring goals which we did,” Rohr said.
“For me, I want to thank the Iceland team for their fairness and attitude because they came out and played well even when they were losing and it showed how professional they played,” he concluded.
Nigeria will play Argentina in their final group game at St. Petersburg Stadium on Tuesday, June 26.
