Coach of the Nigeria senior national team, Gernot Rohr believes the Super Eagles have a better chance of qualifying for the Round of 16 than the Albicelestes of Argentina.
The West African side will progress into the knockout rounds of the ongoing FIFA World Cup should they defeat Argentina this coming Tuesday at the Saint Petersburg Stadium and Rohr is confident his team can.
The Eagles lost their opening World Cup fixture to Croatia by 2-0 but got back on track with an impressive 2-0 win over Iceland in their second group game.
“We have a good chance to win against Argentina,” Rohr declared.
“We beat them in a friendly in Krasnodar (last year) without (Lionel) Messi, but we can do it again.
“The confidence in the team is coming back but we have to stay humble and have the fighting spirit.”
Ahmed Musa, who fired twice for Nigeria against Iceland, is also confident of a good result against Argentina.
“We have to draw or win against Argentina,” the forward said.
“The focus is on our last game. That’s what is most important.”
The three-time African Champions defeat Argentina 4-2 in an international friendly in November 2017 in Krasnodar.
