Uzoho makes history as second youngest goalkeeper to keep clean sheet at World Cup

Super Eagles goalkeeper Francis Uzoho has become the second youngest goalkeeper have kept a clean sheet in FIFA World Cup game.

Aged 19, the shot stopper was in goal for Nigeria in their 2-0 victory over Iceland at the Volgograd Arena on Friday.

The Deportivo La Coruna goalie made three important saves in the game that saw the Super Eagles rally back to victory after losing their first game in the tourney against Croatia.

“19 years 237days – Francis Uzoho is the second youngest goalkeeper to keep a clean sheet in World Cup history, older only than Li Chan-Myong (19 years 198 days) who famously shut-out Italy in 1966,” reads a tweet on a renowed statistics outlet, Opta Joe.

The Aspire Academy product has made eight appearances for the Nigeria senior national team.
