Arsenal forward Alex Iwobi has stated that he is not being deployed in his favourite position in the Super Eagles team.
The former England youth international said categorically that he prefers playing in the number ten role but he has learnt to play as a left winger, right winger and even center forward during his career at Arsenal.
”For me, I have always grown up playing in number ten, not striker but close to the striker. That has always been my position growing up,” Iwobi said to ACL Sports.
”I have learnt to adapt to a different position, I have played left midfield, I have played central midfield, I have played right midfield.
”I have played in a number of positions but my favourite position will probably be number ten.”
Eagles skipper John Obi Mikel has been the team’s preferred number ten since Coach Gernot Rohr took charge of the team in 2016 but Iwobi now looks set to take over from aging Tianjin TEDA ace soon.
Iwobi, who has been in blistering form for the Nigeria of late, was included in the 23-man squad to represent the country at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia.
