Following a one-all draw with DR Congo, Super Eagles defender Brian Idowu strongly believes the Nigeria national team will soar at the forthcoming FIFA World Cup in Russia.
The 25-year-old Amkar Perm’s left-back further expressed his confidence that the team’s oneness and youthfulness will give them edge over others.
“There has been pressure from my family for us to come to Russia and do well,” Idowu said.
“So, we have no option than to perform beyond expectation. I believe the youthfulness in the team will be an added advantage for us.
“As people can see in our previous games, we are energetic with many quick players in the squad.
“We have a very good mix of young with a few experienced players in the team. And we are happy together, togetherness is what is going to inspire us to do well in Russia.”
Idowu made his international debut for Nigeria in their 4-2 thrilling win against the Albiceleste of Argentina on November 14, 2017.
He scored the third goal that gave the Eagles a comeback win against the South American giants in just eight minutes into his first appearance.
