The Blazers of Croatia coach Zlatko Dalić says he hopes to take advantage of the defence faults displayed by the Super Eagles in Monday’s game against DR Congo when his men take on Nigeria at the World Cup in Russia.
Dalić, who took time to monitor the Eagles game against the Leopards, stated that Gernot Rohr’s men are dangerous on the attack but have their weakest link in the defence set-up.
”There was a mixed team, Simon Moses was injured. They are terribly strong out of the box, in the launching of the attack, fast, but their weak point is the defense phase. We’ll see what we can do about it,” Dalic said to Croatian publication, Sportske Novosti.
”Surely they are not better than us, in any case, we just have to prepare well.”
The Croatia head coach reaffirmed that his team will need to get all hands on deck in the defence department to stop the ‘dangerous’ Eagles from getting goals in.
”We will score a goal, but we must be very careful and keep the defensive shape. The Nigerians are dangerous from the position and punish you if you are weakly closed and go away with a lot of players ahead,” he concluded.
Croatia battle Nigeria in their first Group D game in the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup at Kaliningard Stadium on June 16.
