Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has attributed the inability of the team to win Monday’s international friendly versus the Democratic Republic of Congo to his choice to start relatively ‘unknown’ players.
The Eagles played out a 1-1 draw with the Leopards at the Adokiye Amesiaka Stadium with William Troost-Ekong opening his goal account for Nigeria and Rohr believes the Eagles can do a lot better against the Three Lions of England when they face off at the Wembley Stadium on Saturday.
“ We didn ’t win the match but it was an interesting test for everybody, especially for some players we did not know so well and I am satisfied with their performance” Rohr told reporters after the DR Congo game.
“ I think the team will be better in that game than what we have now but it was interesting to see everybody play today,” he added .
“ We did not have the profile I saw in the center – forward but now we have found it.
The coach also expressed concern over the full-back role and stated that he is ready to work on the personnel concerned ahead the Mundial.
“ In this game we also saw that we have some problems with our full back , we will work on it , as we have few days to be ready ,” he said.
