Deportivo La Coruna youngster Francis Uzoho says he has learnt from past mistakes he made while representing the Super Eagles and he is now ready to face the big challenge at the World Cup.
Although the 19-year-old is favourite to make the cut when Coach Gernot Rohr releases his 23-man roster for the Mundial, he believes the other three goalkeeper options in camp – Ikechukwu Ezenwa, Daniel Akpeyi and Dele Ajiboye – deserve the trust of supporters.
”I learnt a lot of things from my first games with the team. I made some mistakes and I’ve learnt from them so I believe I am ready for the big one – the tournament,” Uzoho said at Friday’s media parley.
”The goalkeepers are all good. Nigerians should just have more confidence in us.”
Subbed in at half-time, Uzoho kept a clean sheet on his debut for the Eagles in the game against Argentina. The youngster followed that up with another clean sheet in March’s friendly against Poland.
Uzoho, was however below par in his subsequent appearance in the game against Serbia where he conceded two goals. The match ended 2-0 in favour of the Serbs.
