Atletico Madrid pip Nigeria in GOtv Max Cup final

Reigning Europa League champions Atletico Madrid have been crowned champions of the maiden edition of the GOtv Max Cup.

The Spanish club defeated the Super Eagles B team in a thrilling encounter which ended 3-2.

MVV Maastricht’s Kelechi Nwakali fired a stunner into the top right corner to give the Salisu Yusuf-led side the lead on 32 minutes.

In less than a minute, Angel Correa netted an equaliser to level scores for the visitors.

The Los Rojiblancos legend, who announced he will be retiring at the end of this campaign, smashed in a brilliant finish to earn the Red-and-Whites a comeback.

Rio Olympic bronze medalist Usman Mohammed displayed  belter footwork skills before tapping in to level up scores for Nigeria in the 80th minute.

Five minutes later, Borja Garces dashed Nigeria’s hope of a fightback for the trophy as he struck the winner for his side.
