Hapoel Beer-Sheva midfielder John Ogu has enthused that he is ready to take up any role assigned to him by Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr at the forthcoming World Cup.
Ogu will be hoping to get a spot in Nigeria’s squad to the Mundial in June notwithstanding the vast options available for the manager in the midfield role.
He claimed that Nigeria’s success at the impending global competition is his priority.
The midfielder also stated that he is unfazed by the substitute role he has had to resign to since his return to the squad in the World Cup qualifiers, expressing his utmost desire to see the team record victories.
“Call me defensive or attacking midfielder and you won’t be wrong. I am a midfielder and I’m ready to take up any role in Super Eagles just to ensure we succeed,” Ogu told Complete Sports.
“I’m really encouraged by those words coming from the manager. We will always work together as a team and I’m not really bothered about my substitute role in the team because all that matters now is victory,” he added.
“We believe we can do it at the World Cup, God willing.”
Ogu is in line to make the Eagles’ 35-man provisional squad list for the Mundial scheduled to be released next week.
