Leicester City manager Claude Puel has confirmed that Nigeria’s Wilfred Ndidi has suffered a hamstring injury in their 5-0 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday’s Premier League encounter.
The 21-year-old midfielder limped off the pitch in the 55th minute of the encounter at the Selhurst Park as he had to be helped by the physio team to get off the field.
Ndidi’s injury has consequentially placed a huge doubt on his availability for selection for Nigeria’s squad ahead the 2018 World Cup.
Puel expressed his fear of losing such a crucial player to injury and also hopes he gets back before the World Cup.
“I hope it is not a serious injury for Ndidi and I hope he can play in the World Cup,” said Puel after the game. “All the scenarios today were bad for us.
“We will see (if he will make the World Cup). It is a hamstring injury. I hope it is not serious of course because it is an important moment for him.”
