Nigerian forward Olarenwaju Kayode scored the winner for Shakhtar Donetsk in their 1-0 away victory over Illychivets in the Ukrainian Premier League’s playoffs championship on Friday evening.
Handed his second league start for Shakhtar since his mid-season loan move to the Ukrainian side, the forward took his chance beautifully as he scored the decisive goal in the away win.
Kayode produced a smart finish to net the winner in the 64th minute after being assisted with a brilliant pass by Brazilian international defender Ismaily Gonçalves.
The win gifts Shakhtar a six-point lead at the league summit with 69 points. The team will host Zorya in their next league game.
Kayode has now scored three goals in five appearances in all competitions for the Miners this season.
