MFM FC bowed out of the CAF Confederations Cup in the playoffs as they lost 1-0 on aggregate to Malian side Djiloba AC.
Having recorded a 1-0 loss to Djiloba in the first leg of the tie at the Agege Stadium in Lagos, the Olukoya Boys failed to stage a comeback in the reverse fixture at Stade Modibo Kéïta on Wednesday as they were held to a goalless draw.
Akinyemi Nojeem had the first chance at goal for MFM in the 18th minute after he was played through on goal by midfielder Chukwuka Onuwa but he saw his effort saved by Djiloba goalkeeper Adama Keita.
In the 22nd minute, Chuka Uwaga cleared on the goal line a stunning strike by Oumar Kida after goalkeeper Folarin Abayomi failed to parry the the shot.
Uwaga however got himself injured while trying to stage a repeat ten minutes later as he collided with Abayomi. He was subsequently replaced by Olawale Abisoye.
MFM continued their high pressing game in the second half as they searched for a vital away goal. The Malian side however stood their ground and resisted the visitors’ firepower and held on to their first leg advantage.
