Africa Volleyball Clubs Championship serves off in Lagos

Africa Volleyball Clubs Championship Zone 3 has served off at the Teslim Balogun Stadium, Lagos on Sunday, April 15 and several clubs in Nigeria and neighbouring countries are poised to push for prominence in the West African zone.

The tournament commenced with a technical meeting where draws were made for the participating clubs from the six countries in the zone.

The female clubs billed to participate are Customs (Nigeria), Energies (Benin Republic), Legacy (Nigeria) and Police (Ghana).

In the men’s category, Police (Ghana), Garde Nationale (Niger), Police (Nigeria), Customs (Nigeria), Legacy (Nigeria) and Entente (Benin Republic) are the clubs poised to get involved.

The female clubs are billed to rather play a round robin tournament.

Meanwhile, Nigeria Customs female club defeated Energie Club of Benin by 3-0 straight set in the first match of the tournament on Sunday.

Matches for Day 2 are Legacy (Nigeria) versus Customs (Nigeria) in the first pool B match, Police (Ghana) versus Legacy (Nigeria) for  second match pool B, while the first match of pool A will be between Police (Ghana) and Garde Nationale (Niger).

The opening match was witnessed by officials of Zone 3 & board of Nigeria Volleyball Federation led by the president Musa Nimrod as well as an ex-international & Chairman of SouthWest Volleyball Legends in the Diaspora, Wasiu Ojuolape.
