Aminat Adeniyi claims Gold, Melvin Bibo settles for Silver medal

A gold and a silver medal was what Team Nigeria claimed at Gold Coast 2018 on Day 10 in Wrestling.

Freestyle 125kg Nordic

  • Sinivie Boltic witnessed an abrupt end to his campaign in the event as he incurred an injury in his contest against Pakistan’s Tayab Raza. He lost that first match 10-2 by points and subsequently pulled out of the event.

Freestyle 62kg Nordic

  • Aminat Adeniyi had a perfect campaign in her category as she wrestled her way to gold medal in the event. She defeated India’s Sakshi Malik and New Zealand’s Tayla Ford en route the final. In the Gold Medal match, she was announced winner after her opponent Michelle Fazzari from Canada suffered an injury in the contest.

Freestyle 50kg Nordic

  • Miesennei Genesis recorded one victory and two defeats in her campaign in the event. Losses to India’s Vinesh Vinesh and Canada’s Jessica McDonald in her first two matches ensured she missed out of a medal position. She however got a consolation in her victory over Australia’s Rupinda Kaur in her third match.

Freestyle 86kg

  • Melvin Bibo secured silver medal in the category following a loss to Pakistan’s Muhammad Inam in the Gold Medal match. He earned successive victories against Sierra Leone’s David Conteh and England’s Syerus Eslami in his first two matches.
