Gold Coast 2018

Ndidi Nwosu earns Nigeria another Gold Medal in Para Powerlifting

Ndidi Nwosu earned Nigeria a third Gold medal the ongoing commonwealth games at Gold Coast in the women’s heavyweight powerlifting category on Tuesday.

With a body weight of 69.1kg, the 39-year-old eased through her attempts at the event as she lifted relatively small weights to earn the Gold medal.

She only had to lift 110kg and 120kg in her first and second attempt respectively to finish top-placed.

She amassed 110.4 points and, though this was a far cry from the current world record of 150 points, it was enough to earn her the prestigious gold medal.

England’s Louise Sugden and Kenya’s Joyce Njuguna won Silver and Bronze medal respectively.
