Table Tennis: Team Nigeria defeat Malaysia, edge into Round 16

Team Nigeria’s table tennis players at the ongoing 2018 Commonwealth Games built on their impressive performance in the opening group game as they recorded a 3-1 victory over their counterparts from Malaysia. 

Olajide Omotayo, Bode Abiodun, and Azeez Jamiu were the active players in the brilliant win over the Asians.

Olajide Omotayo eased to a 13-11, 15-13, 11-7 win against Chee Feng Leong in match 1.

Bode Abiodun continued in equal momentum as Omotayo and he recorded a 11-5, 11-7, 13-11 victory over Muhammad Muhamad Rizal in Match 3.

In match 3, the duo of Azeez Jamiu and Omotayo were defeated 11-4, 11-9, 11-7 as the Malaysian pair of Javen Choong and Chee Feng Leong earned their first match win.

Jamiu did well to earn a win against Muhamad Rizal in a thrilling match 4 which ended 3-2 [11-7, 9-11, 11-5, 7-11, 11-8] in favour of the Nigerian.

Team Nigeria finish top of Group 4 having recorded two wins in two, and have automatically earned a spot in the Round 16 scheduled for April 6.
