Hull City defender Ola Aina has made known his desire to represent Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia but states he is momentarily focused on helping his Championship side avoid the drop this season.
The Chelsea loanee has been a key figure in the Tigers’ team this season as he has proven to be a utility player, churning out consistent performances at various roles in Nigel Adkins’ team.
”Personally I just take things step by step and focus in on the job I have to do here game by game,”Aina told Hull Daily Mail.
”I’m just taking it steady. I’m not thinking about it all the time. It could be a big few months ahead but it’s down to me to perform.
”Hopefully I make the squad that goes to the World Cup but first and foremost it’s to finish the season strong here and make sure we keep this great club up.”
The 21-year-old has so far scored once and provided three assists in 40 appearances for Hull City this season.
The English-born defender has three caps for Nigeria.
