Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo missed a spot kick in Changchun Yatai’s 2-1 home loss to Guangzhou R&F in a Chinese Super League encounter on Saturday.
The 28-year-old failed to net the game opener on 10 minutes after missing from 12 yards for Changchun.
Later in the second half, Xiaofei Zhang gave the hosts the lead in the 61st minute.
Eran Zahavi equalised for Guangzhou with a decent strike in the 78th minute.
Six minutes into stoppage time, Changchun’s Rui Yu was issued a red card for a bad foul in the box and the visitors were subsequently awarded a penalty.
Renatinho converted the spot kick a minute later to complete the dramatic comeback at the Changchun’s People Stadium and ensure the hosts continue in their search for a win in the league this season.
Ighalo has so far scored one goal in four league appearances for Changchun Yatai in this campaign.
