Super Eagles legendary midfielder Austin Okocha has stated that he is pleased with the way the three-time African champions played in their 2-0 loss to Serbia.
Okocha, who was in attendance in the international friendly at the Hive Stadium on Tuesday, communicated to AOIFootball that the Eagles, though played satisfactorily, need to improve in their movement on the pitch.
“The game was ok to me. I think they played very well, but obviously, they should have done better with their movement on and off the ball,” the 44-year-old said.
“Unfortunately we lost the game, but the reason for friendlies is to test might and correct mistakes. But I’m quite pleased with the way they played.”
Okocha also tipped the team to reach heights at the impending World Cup, but reiterated the need for them to improve in their play.
“They just have to keep improving and doing what they are doing, and also believe in themselves; but honestly, they have a good chance in Russia,” the former Bolton Wanderers star concluded.
During his time as an active footballer, Okocha represented Nigeria at the 1998 FIFA World Cup in France and at Korea/Japan 2002 edition of the Mundial.
