With less than 10 weeks till Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr announces Nigeria’s World Cup squad for the 2018 FIFA World Cup, Malaga forward Brown Ideye still fancies his chances of gatecrashing the 23-man team list.
Ideye, who was part of the team that defeated Zambia in Ndola in Nigeria’s first qualifier for the Mundial in the final round, believes the ‘door’ to the squad is still open.
The Tianjin TEDA loanee stated that he is working hard to ensure he makes the squad whilst stating his experience and playing style will be an asset to the team should he get the nod by the coach.
“The door into the World Cup squad is still open and I intend to fight for a place at the tournament. I am working very hard to ensure that. We need very experienced players at the World Cup and I know what I bring to the table,” he told AOIFootball.
The Malaga forward has scored 1 goal in 7 appearances for the modest La Liga side this season.
