Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has bared his mind on Alex Iwobi’s individual performance in Nigeria’s 2-0 loss to Serbia in an international friendly on Tuesday.
The coach, who took time to applaud the 21-year-old for his displays for the Eagles in the game, suggested that he played at times to the gallery and ‘wanted to make a show’ as against the team’s objective to play as a unit.
”With us all the time he’s very good, already in Poland and he was fantastic tonight,” Rohr told Evening Standard.
“Perhaps some times [he did] a little too much individually, he wanted to make a show. We prefer collective football.
Rohr however admitted the forward is important in getting opponents out of the way and setting up teammates as he did against Serbia.
”But when he can eliminate his opponent it’s very good [for us]. He’s with us all the time in confidence. He’s free when he has the ball,” the Franco-German stated.
