Albiceleste of Argentina defender Emanuel Mammana faces a possibility of missing action for Argentina at the impending 2018 FIFA World Cup.
The Zenit Saint Petersburg star suffered a severe injury on his knee during his clubside’s Russian Premier League game against FC Rostov on Sunday.
The center-back landed awkwardly on his knee after collision with Icelander international forward Bjorn Bergmann Sigurdarso, who was in action for Rostov jn the league game.
According to reports, Argentine international, Mammana was adjudged by doctors to have suffered a rupture of the cruciate ligaments and the meniscus.
Mammana, who watched proceedings from the sideline in the Albiceleste’s 4-2 loss to Nigeria in November, 2017, is thus most likely to be ruled out of Argentina’s squad for the World Cup as he may not be fit ahead the competition.
