Nigeria’s bobsled team poster girl, Seun Adigun has expressed excitement following historic participation in the Pyeongchang 2018 Winter Olympics.
The bobsled team made Nigeria proud as they are the first to hoist the country’s flag at the Winter edition of the Olympics games.
On the continent level, the Super Eagles team are the first African team to participate in the bobsled event at an international level.
“It’s quite amazing, I’m overwhelmed with joy and overwhelmed with the idea of knowing that history was made and we gave everything we had to do it,” the team’s driver, Adigun stated.
“This was just one of those days that you can’t really describe,” she added.
“Full of all kinds of emotions — full of relief, full of history.”
Adigun also enthused that the team is gunning for claim Africa’s first Winter Olympics at Beijing 2022 – the next edition.
“By God’s grace you will see Nigeria in Beijing,” Adigun added.
“We did everything we could. People are super-stoked back in Nigeria. We just pray all of our resilience does foster into some future athletes.”
The Nigerian team finished in the bottom of the ranking for the bobsled event at the 2018 Winter Olympics in their first appearance at the grand stage.
