Kano Pillars defender Udoji dies in tragic accident

Kano Pillars veteran defender Chinedu Udoji has passed away on the night of Sunday, February 18, 2018, the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) club announced on Monday morning.

It is a big shock to all football lovers in the country as the former Enyimba FC player was involved in an NPFL game against his former side, which ended 1-1, on just the same day.

Pillars shared the information via their Twitter that Udoji visited his former teammates in their hotel and was involved in a car accident on Club Road in Kano on his way back after the visit.

Udoji, 28, spent seven years with the People’s Elephant, where he won two league titles, two Federation Cup titles and captained the team to the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League in 2011. He began his footballing career with FC Abuja at the age of 12.

He is survived by a wife and two kids.

Other NPFL clubs have sent in their condolences to the family of the player on social media.
