Former Super Eagles coach Sunday Oliseh has confirmed his relief of duty as coach of the Dutch second division side Fortuna Sittard on Wednesday.
The coach stated that the disciplinary action taken against him by the Dutch side was due to his refusal to take part in ‘Illegal activities’ at the club.
Fortuna parted ways with Oliseh on Wednesday and announced the sack on their official website, stating that the former Nigerian midfielder was found guilty of culpable actions against the club’s hierarchy.
“The club management makes this decision as a result of the repeatedly culpable actions for a long period by the trainer towards several persons in the organization,” the club revealed on their website, Fortuna Sittard.
“Several attempts by the club to move the trainer to other behavior remained unfortunately without result, resulting in an unworkable situation as a result.”
Having lost four games on the bounce in their recent league games, Fortuna insisted that Oliseh’s sack was not due to the team’s poor form.
“The board of Fortuna Sittard emphasizes that the decision to disband Sunday Oliseh is not motivated by the current sporting performance,” the club added.
“Because of his inadmissible actions, the coach has made the co-operation with many people within the organization impossible. From players to employees. Fortuna Sittard regrets the decision, but states that the club interest goes above all else.”
In his reaction to the action taken by the Eerste Divisie side, Oliseh released a statement on his twitter handle – revealing the club fired him due to his decline to participate in unlawful activities.

The 43-year-old was appointed as head coach of the Dutch side in January 2017. The coach immediately ensured they survived the relegation battle as he helped them finish 17th in the 2016/17 season.
Under Oliseh’s guide, Fortuna are placed third in the 20-team Eerste Divisie table after 24 matchdays in the 2017/18 season, with an automatic playoff spot already guaranteed.
