Heartland FC secured a 2-1 away victory over Niger Tornadoes at the Confluence Stadium, Lokoja on Wednesday in their matchday six rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League fixture.
The pulsating game saw the Naze Millionaires Boys record yet another win to propel them up the log, after recording their first win of the season on Sunday against Kwara United.
Lucky Emariojoke gave the visitors the lead on six minutes through a lob from Japhet Opubo.
Mohammed Azeez, who was introduced in the 15th minute to replace Emariojoke, doubled the Owerri-based club lead three minutes before the end of the first half following a defensive error by the Ikon Allah Boys.
Tornadoes’ Bashir Usman scored in the 49th minute to reduce the deficit but that proved to be a consolation at the end as the Heartland held on to their lead and saw off the game to secure maximum points.
With the win, Heartland are now ranked seventh on the log with 10 points while the Minna-based club are placed 19th.
