Akwa United snatch away win; Plateau trash Elkanemi; Kwara make headway

A total of 19 goals have been scored in the 2018 Nigeria Professional Football League matchday four encounters across the country.

Niger Tornadoes 1-2 Akwa United

2017 AITEO Cup winners recorded hitherto the only away win of the 2018 NPFL matchday four as they defeated hosts Niger Tornadoes 1-2 to earn their third win in four games.

Plateau United 3-0 Elkanemi Warriors

Plateau United trashed Elkanemi Warriors 3-0 to move to the top of the NPFL log with 9 points and a goal difference of 5. Goals from Jimmy Ambrose (2′), Joshua Obaje (8′) and Rapheal Ayagwa (47′) condemned the Borno Army to a big away loss.

MFM FC 2-1 FC Ifeanyi Ubah

Sikiru Olatunbosun scored the winner for the Olukoya Boys to give them the bragging rights over visiting FC Ifeanyi Ubah at the Agege Stadium. The game was quite exhilarating with so many chances on the plate for both sides. However, the chances were converted only in the first half of the encounter with MFM’s Joshua Akila (14′), FCIU’s Pascal Seka (29′) finding the back of the net respectively before Olatunbosun struck what proved to be the winner four minutes from the half-time break.

Kano Pillars 2-1 Abia Warriors

The Sai Masu Gida boys gave their best to pip the Ocendo Babes at the Sani Abacha Stadium. Pillars’ Nyima Nwagua scored the deadlock in the 28th minute before Ndifreke Effiong struck on 60 minutes to equalise for the Umuahia boys. Junior Lokosa netted his fourth goal of the campaign two minutes later to give Pillars the win.

Go-Round 1-1 Heartland

The Naze Millionaires forced hosts Go-Round to a one-all draw as they continue their search for a win in their 2018 campaign.

Kwara United 1-0 Wikki Tourists

Stephen Alfred scored United’s first goal of the season on 14 minutes in their clash against the Big Elephants of Wikki Tourists. Alfred’s goal was all the Harmony Warriors needed to earn their first win of the campaign. On the flip side, United’s Lukman Binuyo received his second booking of the game in the 84th minute and was subsequently sent off.

Yobe Desert Stars 1-0 Lobi Stars

Lobi suffered their first defeat of the campaign at Yobe Stars home ground as Mohammed Ganaru’s men picked up all three points with their lone goal win. Chinedu Ohanachum’s 74th minute volley was the difference as the Damaturu Boys eased up to the top half of the table.

Sunshine Stars 2-0 Rivers United

The Akure Gunners left it late at the Akure Township Stadium to secure a convincing victory over Rivers United. Goals from Bala Yahuza (74′) and Franklin Sasere (81′) gave Sunshine the edge.

Rangers International 1-0 Kastina United

Rangers’ Godwin Aguda broke the deadlock of the drab encounter at the Nnamdi Azikwe Stadium. Aguda’s 78th minute strike was enough to seal the win for the Flying Antelopes.

However, the anticipated clash between Enyimba International and Nassarawa United was postponed. The game will now be played on Thursday.
