Rivers United FC have been ranked Nigeria’s best club in 2017 by the International Federation of Football History & Statistics (IFFHS).
The Port-Harcourt based club moved 430 places up and are now ranked the 221st in the world alongside Al Ain FC, Hertha BSC, FK Lokomotiv Tashkent, Panionios FC, Boca Juniors, šK Slovan Bratislava and São Paulo FC.
Real Madrid are the best team in the world followed by Brazilian club Gremio while Manchester United occupy the 3rd position.
Egyptian side Al Ahly SC are on top in Africa while Etoile du Sahel, Esperance ST, TP Mazembe, Club Africain and SuperSport United FC complete the first five teams respectively.
Rivers United are ranked higher than English Premier League clubs Burnley, Southampton FC, Stoke City FC and Swansea City AFC, Crystal Palace FC and AFC Bournemouth.
Meanwhile, the Nigeria Professional Football League is rated the 63rd strongest national league in the world according to IFFHS.
