Super Eagles coach Gernot Rohr has stated that the Super Eagles will be motivated to excel in the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia following their failure to claim the CAF Award.
The Pharaohs of Egypt beat the Super Eagles to the National Team of the Year Award at the 2017 AITEO CAF Awards held in Accra, Ghana on Thursday, January 4.
Coach Rohr also could not subdue Egypt national team coach Hector Cuper in the Coach of the Year Award on Thursday.
In his chat with ScoreNigeria, the gaffer said the Eagles will be poised to shine at Russia 2018 following the CAF Awards snub just as he congratulated the winners.
“We have already a big motivation to play a good World Cup. And I am sure that the players would like to be the best African team this year,” he said.
“I am also proud to be among the three nominees for African Coach of the Year.
“Egypt, their best player (Mohamed Salah) and their coach (Hector Cuper) deserved the awards.
“They made a very good AFCON (Africa Cup of Nations 2017), while we (Nigeria) didn’t play.”
