D’Tigers get games schedule for 2018 Commonwealth Games

The Basketball competition schedule for the 2018 Commonwealth Games has been released on Thursday, January 4.

The competition which will commence on April 5 in Gold Coast, Australia will see the D’Tigers take on New Zealand in their first game in pool A on April 6.

Nigeria’s other opponents in pool A are Australia and Canada.

Meanwhile, the Nigeria Basketball Federation has called up 20 home-based players for the first round of preparations for the games. The best of these home-based players will be selected to train with the foreign based players for the second round of preparations.

For the second phase, the training camp will be more intensive as the players will also be drilled for the FIBA World Cup Qualifiers billed for February 20-26, 2018.

Schedule for the D’Tigers’ games at the Commonwealth 

Nigeria vs New Zealand – 6 April
Nigeria vs Canada – 7 April
Nigeria vs Australia – 9 April

Nigeria participated in the first basketball edition at the Commonwealth Games in 2006 which was held in Melbourne, where D’Tigers finished fourth behind Australia, New Zealand and England.
